Jersey Museum

The Jersey Museum's new exhibition, La Tèrr’rie d’Jèrri – D’s histouaithes dé not’Île ("Being Jersey – Stories of our Island"), offers a captivating look at key moments in the island’s history. Located on the first floor, it delves into how Jersey became an island, its relationship with the British Crown, immigration, language, and major events like the Battle of Jersey and the German Occupation. It also highlights Jersey’s role as a destination for honeymooners, artists, and the birthplace of socialite Lillie Langtry.

Overview

The exhibition features interactive touchscreens with videos about Jersey’s history and its people. Visitors can explore collections further through interactive displays and audio points, which offer insights into the Jèrriais language and the island’s poetry.

Large projection screens showcase Jersey’s unique wildlife, popular tourist attractions, and photographs from Surrealist artist Claude Cahun. An ambient audio network enhances the experience, creating an immersive environment that complements the displayed artifacts.

DJW worked with designers Nissan Richards and Jersey Heritage to blend audiovisual elements with objects from the museum's collection, ensuring a seamless experience that brings Jersey’s rich history to life for visitors.

This engaging exhibition provides a deep dive into Jersey’s identity, offering a mix of historical artifacts, multimedia elements, and personal stories that showcase the island’s unique heritage.
